The Department of Economics at the University has an academic staff of 60 including research fellows and the staff at the Centre on Equality, Social Organization, and Performance (ESOP), which has a 10-year funding from the Research Council of Norway. The department offers programs on all levels, from bachelor through PhD, with a total number of students around 700. The department is able to boast of having had two Nobel laureates in economics: Ragnar Frisch (1969) and Trygve Haavelmo (1989).
